Sims Recycling Solutions, a leading electronics recycling company, has expanded its presence in the UK electronics recycling market with the acquisition of the business assets of Wincanton PLC’s recycling division in a move that extends Sims’ reach into the retailer sector and consolidates its position in the UK market.

Wincanton PLC, the leading European supply chain solutions provider had developed its electronic recycling operations over the past seven years into a highly successful operation. The business comprises Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) processing plants at Billingham and Daventry, a fridge recycling plant at Billingham and sortation centres at Harlow and Widnes. The business employs approximately 146 employees who, following consultation, will transfer to Sims under TUPE on completion.
Sims Recycling Solutions is part of the Australian listed business, Sims Metal Management. It employs over 5,500 people, operates in 20 countries across five continents, and has existing UK electrical recycling facilities in Newport, Manchester, Ellesmere Port and Dumfries.
